Laboratory for Drug Discovery in Neuroscience

Dr. Hodgetts is a Medicinal Chemist. He is an Assistant Professor of Neurology and Director of the Laboratory for Drug Discovery in Neuroscience (LDDN) at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Dr. Hodgetts joined the LDDN in September 2012, to work with the academic community to design new and innovative strategies for drug discovery for neurodegenerative diseases. He has a broad background in organic and medicinal chemistry, with experience in both industrial and academic drug discovery.

Dr. Hodgetts has spent 20 years working on discovering compounds to treat diseases of the central nervous system. Compounds from two CNS projects that he was the medicinal chemist have now entered clinical trials.

The LDDN is a medicinal chemistry and drug discovery group located at the Partners Research Building in Cambridge, MA. Dr. Hodgetts’ group provides the BWH community with medicinal chemistry and drug discovery expertise, with the goal of helping transform discoveries in the basic biology of disease into opportunities for drug discovery.
